Sergei Turovets

History

Education

From 1984 to 1999, he was with the Institute of Physics, Academy of Sciences, Minsk, Belarus, where he was engaged in research on nonlinear dynamics in complex systems, including lasers and nonlinear optical devices. Since 2000 to 2003 he worked as a computational scientist in the high tech optoelectronic industry in Silicon Valley, California.

Interests

His current research interests include mathematical modeling and numerical methods in neuroscience and brain imaging, development of the finite difference and finite element methods for solving biologically relevant problems of mathematical physics, in particular, in electrical impedance and diffuse optical tomography. He has published more than 50 papers in the fields of computational physics, lasers, optics and nonlinear dynamics.

Dr. Turovets is a recipient of Postdoctoral Fellowship Awards from the Royal Society (UK) , DAAD (Germany) and the Ministry of Education and Culture (Spain). He is a member of the Optical Society of America.
