- Manjunath Gorentla Venkata (General Co-chair)
ORGANIZATION
The OpenSHMEM User Group (OUG 2014) is an user meeting dedicated to the promotion and advancement of all aspects of the OpenSHMEM API and its tools eco-system. The goal of the meeting is to discuss and present the ongoing user experiences, research, implementations, and tools that use the OpenSHMEM API. A particular emphasis will be given to the ongoing research that can enhance the OpenSHMEM specification to leverage the emerging hardware while addressing the application needs. The event will include three main sessions:- Work-in-Progress (WiP) session which will be a series of talks on current research in OpenSHMEM
- Birds-of-a-Feather (BoF) session with emphasis on OpenSHMEM applications Benchmarks, verification and validation suite
- Discussion session aimed at the ratification of the OpenSHMEM 1.2 specification
Peer-reviewed WiP paper session:
The WiP session will consist of a series of talks on ongoing research or ideas to improve the OpenSHMEM specification. This is a chance to present the ongoing research that is not yet ready for publication and to get feedback on your work from the experts in the field. The work should be original and have never been presented before and has to have a direct tie to OpenSHMEM. We are interested in the research that is novel and interesting, even if it is premature. A particular interest for this session are submissions in the form of outrageous ideas and work-in-progress. Topics of interest for the WiP session include (but are not limited to):
- Experiences in OpenSHMEM applications in any domain
- Extensions to and shortcomings of current OpenSHMEM specification (to express teams of PEs, locality, multiple types of memories))
- Hybrid heterogeneous or many-core programming with OpenSHMEM and other languages or APIs (i.e. OpenCL, OpenACC, CUDA, OpenMP)
- Experiences in implementing OpenSHMEM on new architectures
- Low level communication layers to support OpenSHMEM or other PGAS languages/APIs
- Power / energy studies of OpenSHMEM
- Static analysis and verification tools for OpenSHMEM
- Modeling and performance analysis tools for OpenSHMEM and/or other PGAS languages/APIs.
- Auto-tuning or optimization strategies for OpenSHMEM programs
- Runtime environments and schedulers for OpenSHMEM
- Validation and verification suites for OpenSHMEM
- Interoperability with other PGAS models such as UPC, and Co-Array Fortran
CALL FOR PAPERS
THE OPENSHMEM USER GROUP (OUG 2014)
(TO BE HELD IN CONJUNCTION WITH PGAS 2014, TUESDAY, 7 OCTOBER 2014, EUGENE, OR, USA)
ORGANIZATION
THE OPENSHMEM USER GROUP (OUG 2014) IS THE VENUE TO DISCUSS AND PRESENT THE ONGOING USER EXPERIENCES, RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT IN LIBRARY IMPLEMENTATION, TOOLS, TRENDS, AND ITS USE IN APPLICATIONS. THE EVENT WILL INCLUDE A WORK-IN- PROGRESS (WIP) SESSION WHICH WILL BE A SERIES OF TALKS ON CURRENT RESEARCH IN OPENSHMEM. A PARTICULAR EMPHASIS WILL BE GIVEN TO THE ONGOING RESEARCH THAT CAN ENHANCE THE OPENSHMEM SPECIFICATION TO ADDRESS THE CHALLENGES FOR EMERGING HARDWARE. OUG 2014 WILL BE THE VENUE FOR THE RATIFICATION OF OPENSHMEM VERSION 1.2 SPECIFICATION. IT WILL ALSO INCLUDE A BIRDS-OF-A-FEATHER (BOF) SESSION TO DISCUSS THE STATE-OF-ART IN OPENSHMEM WITH PARTICULAR EMPHASIS ON OPENSHMEM APPLICATIONS, BENCHMARKS, VERIFICATION AND VALIDATION SUITE.
